1. Prepare your item

Thoroughly clean the area you wish to mark. Make sure it is free from grease or dust, using alcohol if necessary.

The area needs to be completely dry before the application.

2. Write on the item

Simply write the code you have been given on to the desired item (where it is hard to see).

You may wish to repeat this step on several places of your item, depending on its size and the frequency of exposing the item to light, weather conditions, touch, or friction.

3. Read the invisible code

Allow the ink to dry before switching on the UV light in the lid of the Pen.

Open your camera and point the UV light to the written area. Take a picture of the writing on your item for proof of ownership and to submit into the database, when registering your item.

You can repeat this step, every time you need to prove ownership.

4. Displaying your warning labels

For theft prevention, apply a warning sticker on the item in plain view.

Potential thieves look for easy marks and very often the warning will put them off.

5. Register your PIN in the IARLE Database

Visit https://dna-protectedarea.com/login/user to register your items on our database. By doing so, you will help police to irrefutably identify you as the owner of your stolen/lost items.
